About Our Area
This area is totally different than your image of "Oklahoma" - We have mountains, clear streams, clean air, National Forests, National Wilderness & Recreation Areas, and 60 inches of rain a year , only three inches of annual snow, and it's a great place to live. YES, MOUNTAINS in Oklahoma!! (No, not the Rockies, more like the foothills of the Smokies.) We have over 2 million surface acres of lakes within a two hour drive. Did you know Oklahoma has more fresh water shoreline per capita than any other state? We offer great hunting for game, turkey, quail, waterfowl, and just a superb outdoor environment.
Don't like hunting or fishing? We have a great place for hiking, backpacking, mountain biking & bicycling, horseback riding, trail-riding, four wheeling, motorcycle touring, bird watching, eagle watching, camping, kayaking, canoeing, water skiing, sailing, motor boating, rock climbing, hang gliding, and simply superb photography areas. We are in the heart of one of the largest Bald Eagle wintering areas in North America. We have four seasons, spring four months, fall four months, so the other two are livable. Note we get 60 inches of RAIN per year, and have over 2,000,000 surface acres of lakes in a 2-hour drive. We can get out in shirt sleeves or a light jacket about 335 days a year. Well, actually it isn't for everyone, but if you like crisp breathable air, clean water, clear mountain streams, national forests, pine trees, a LOT of water, a laid back people, and a little slower pace in life, it is great!

CNHSA was built with Tribal funds, no Federal funds and no borrowing.
The Service Area of Choctaw Nation Health Services Authority is ten and a half counties in southeast Oklahoma, an area of 15,000 square miles, roughly the size of the state of Vermont. Population is 240,000, of which about 70,000 are our Native American service population.
